For the past three years Sedona has played home to a dazzling celebration in honor of Dia de los Muertos, known in the US as Day of the Dead!  Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Plaza host the festivities and is the perfect backdrop with it's charming old-world Spanish architecture.

Jim and Ken of Events by Show Stoppers and their extremely talented team are the artists behind the masterpiece ... this is their "baby" if you will.  They spend countless hours throughout the year pulling together all the ideas and details that make Dia de los Muertos come to life.  For this year's event, Jim and Ken took inspiration from Frida Kahlo.  You can only imagine how honored we were when they called and asked us to be the official photographers this year!!  This is so up our alley and it well exceeded our expectations!

First up we photographed a stunning vow-renewal inspired by the Frida Kahlo theme!  Patricia and Scott were married after a whirlwind romance eleven years ago in South Beach, Miami, where they first met.  They never had a "proper" ceremony, so the vow-renewal was very emotional for them.  It was so touching as the entire ceremony, officiated by the wonderful Rev, Andrew Murphy, was read in Spanish ... very fitting.  These two are still so in love with one another and their love just shines through in every image we took!

Aside from Patricia and Scott's vow renewal, there were so many fun things happening throughout the two-day long event.  There were alters where people could light a candle to pay respects to their lost loved ones, human as well as furry companion, and a giant interactive mural for the same purpose.  There were also fire dancers, wonderful characters wandering about in character, musicians, a mariachi band and many other delights.

The highlight of the event was the spectacular signature Frida Catrina floral carpet designed by Events by Showstoppers.  It took over one thousand hand-pulled rose petals to execute this stunning masterpiece and it stopped everyone in their tracks!

Thank you Jim and Ken for asking us to take part in this wonderful event!  We were blown away by it and we had such a spectacular weekend!!
