Rebecca and Michael have become one of our favorite couples.  They are just so genuine and sweet and it was a privilege getting to know them both.  They were married on May 19th, 2012 in a quaint wedding spread between Sedona and their hometown of Flagstaff.  The ceremony took place at Merry-Go-Round-Rock in Sedona and was beautiful with it's incomparable views!  The reception was held at the historic Weatherford Hotel in downtown Flagstaff.  Rebecca made a lot of her own accessories including her stunning birdcage veil.  She also came up with a wonderful idea to incorporate all her guests into the ceremony by handing them small portions of her bouquet to which they attached a piece of paper with well wishes written on it.  She then collected the flowers (well wishes attached) as she walked down the aisle thereby completing her bouquet by the end of her walk.  I just loved this idea!

Rebecca and Michael, thank you so much for including us in your big day ... we just love you both and wish you all the happiness in life!

It was hard to even do a "sneak peak" of this wedding because it was so awesome and there are so many good photos to choose from!  Jodi and Mike were married in early October in Happy Jack, Arizona.  What, you don't know where that is????  It is a tiny town just outside Flagstaff on the way to Payson.  We can't wait to share more of this wonderful and super-fun wedding!!

We just wanted to share what we have been up to over the past six days.  We are in the middle of our shooting marathon ... 10 days of straight shoots ... and so far they have taken us from every season and climate through days of crazy weather :-)!  We won't lie, it has been tiring, but fun so far and we are looking forward to the final run!

Kristen and Adam were married September 17th, 2011 on a perfect day in Flagstaff, AZ.  This wedding was a referral from my good friend and fellow wedding photographer, Melissa Dunstan.  Melissa is very close friends with both the bride and groom and served as part of their wedding party and it was an honor for me to photograph this beautiful event!  Everything about the day was magical, from the stunning couple, to the lovely decorations and ribbons hand-picked by the bride, to the enchanted wedding in a forest clearing in the mountains amongst tall pines and white-barked aspens, and then their was the little fawn.  A baby deer fawn came up out of nowhere during formals to be a part of the photographs ... can't get much more magical than that :-)!  We also had the chance to finally work with the ultra-talented Kim Duncan of KD Event Designs, www.kdeventdesigns.com , and she did a spectacular job with the reception set up at Thornagers.  Thank you both for having us as your wedding photographers.  It was a true joy!  Enjoy the sneak peak!  Thank you too to our Associate Photographer, Angie Gomez, for doing such an amazing job as always second shooting for this event!

very innovative photography.....

(02.28.12 @ 05:45 AM)

I call Sarah "my stalker" :-).  She has been following us through our website and at bridal shows throughout the state for the past couple of years and when it finally came time to put all the wheels in motion for the planning of her and Sam's wedding, happily she contacted us to book our services.  We instantly fell in love with this couple and have had such a wonderful relationship with them ever since!

Sarah and Sam live in the valley but chose to have their wedding in the high country at Flagstaff's Snowbowl.  Their wedding took place in late September and though we were hoping for some fall color, the peak came a bit late this year.  They added their own color though, brightening up the ceremony site, and added many of their own unique touches.  Through much trial and error, Sam and Sarah made beautiful ceremony and reception centerpieces and accents with manzanita branches and aspen stumps ... so wonderfully creative.

Sarah and Sam, we love you both so much and hope you love these images you so trustingly allowed us to create.  You are an amazing and wonderful couple with so much love for one another.  You are an inspiration and we wish you a lifetime of joy together!

P.S.  Hope you loved Africa (lucky ducks; where they went on their honeymoon for a month) as much as I used to!  Watch out though, it will get into your blood :-).

Sarah and Sam are so sweet ... and Sarah has been stalking us for quite some time :-).  I'm just kidding :-).  Seriously though, she has been following us for quite a while - I can't tell you how many bridal shows she has visited us at!  She is so complimentary of our work and we are so pleased that she and Sam hired us to photograph their upcoming fall wedding at Snowbowl in Flagstaff!  They live in the valley but LOVE the high country and given where their wedding will be, it only made sense to do their engagement shoot on the mountain as well.  Thanks so much you two and we can't wait for the wedding!

This photo was a special request by Sarah and Sam.  We got lucky because there was a full moon on this evening.  In order to achieve the appearance of a very large moon (which can not be done using the very moderate telephoto I used to shoot the couple), I took a photo of the couple and then photographed the moon with a long telephoto lens.  I actually took both photos within seconds of each other and then put the two together in photoshop.

Elayne prayed for a winter wedding complete with snow and that is exactly what she got!  She and Craig reside in Phoenix and planned their January 2010 wedding in Flagstaff in the hopes that it would be snowing on the day of ... or at least there would be a little snow on the ground.  Elayne even bought the cutest pair of winter-white boots in anticipation of the snow.  They didn't get a snowy day but they did get ample snow on the ground as Flagstaff had recently been heavily dumped on :-).  They held their wedding and reception at the Radisson and were quite willing to go off property to get some beautiful shots in the snow ... thanks for trusting us on that one :-).  Thank you both so much and we hope you enjoy the sneak peak!

Side note:  We would like to thank our new assistant, Angela Beebe for her fantastic work at this wedding.  She will be working with us at many of our upcoming weddings and shoots and we are really excited to be working with her!  Welcome aboard :-)!

I love it! My photo fits so well within those other two pictures! I have to say though, my favorite is the one of them kissing with the sun bursting in between them. Also, the one of them in the snow, that you said you LOVE LOVE LOVE! I agree!!

I first met Megan a little over a year ago.  One of her good friends, Paige, was one of our past brides and Paige and Megan decided to do a boudoir session for their men.  Shortly after that, Megan got engaged and called to have us photograph the wedding.  Megan and her fiance, Colton, love the mountains and wanted their engagement session to take place amongst the autumn aspens.  Fall was a bit odd this year ... very sporadic color ... so we spent the day on a scavenger hunt of sorts looking for good patches of color.  We had a great time and I just love these two!  I can't wait for their wedding this March!!

September 15, 2009 // Flagstaff

The day before we left for our big trip (postings coming up - think buffaloes - lots of them) we headed out to photograph Ashley's senior portraits.  She loves nature and she especially loves cows - a girl after my own heart :-) - and Flagstaff has plenty of both!!  We had a great time in the sunflower fields and on the road to Hart Prarie, which is prime cow territory by the way.  Thanks so much Ashley!  You did a great job and looked beautiful doing it :-)!

Hellooooo ... we are back :-)!!!  No we didn't die, we have just been gone for several weeks for both vacation and work and there will be plenty of upcoming postings to show where we have been and what we have been up to.  But first we have a couple of postings that we need to post from before we left.

Kelly and Evan are getting married in Flagstaff next May.  Neither of them live in state, but they made a trip out this way to get some wedding planning out of the way.  They figured that it would be the perfect time to schedule their engagement session, and they couldn't have been more right.  A few weeks ago Flagstaff's famous fields of sunflowers were in their full glory and we definitely took advantage.  They also wanted some shots around Sedona, so we took them to Merry-Go-Round Rock on Schnebly Hill for sunset - which was quite spectacular by the way!  We had a great time guys!!

Kelsey and Thor were married August 9th at Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff.  We loved everything about this wedding - the couple (they were stunning), the venue, the peacock feather and star theme, the weather (beautiful and cool) - just everything!

Lowell Observatory is one of Flagstaff's big claims to history.  Our 9th planet, Pluto, was discovered here in 1930 and though it's classification has since been downgraded to that of "dwarf planet" it still holds a special place in our solar system, in our hearts, and at Lowell Observatory.  A beautiful sculptural exibit of all the planet's (including Pluto) is on display right now and it made for some great props in photos!

Kelsey and Thor, you were both so wonderful and gracious, as were your family and friends, and we so much enjoyed being a part of your big day.  It was truly a pleasure and we hope you love your photos as much as we do!  Now for the TTD session :-).

Great imagery. Very unique setting and you captured the wedding day hustle and bustle perfectly. Love the image of the bride putting on her dress, while the helper is on the phone.

This is how far behind I am on my blogging ... I always try to have the photos posted before the clients get their images so that they get a little sneak peak.  Just as I began this posting I got an email from Michelle and Eric letting us know that they had just gotten their DVD.  Up side is that the email was very sweet and they loved their photos!!  Thanks guys :-)!

A couple of weeks ago Michelle and Eric made their way from Phoenix to Flagstaff for their engagement shoot.  We started out downtown and finished up on the mountain, stopping by one of our many sunflower-filled meadows along the way.

Michelle and Eric, we had such a blast with you both!!  This was such a fun engagement shoot and you both made taking great images extremely easy.  You were even willing to run so we could get photos as the train went by ... awesome!  We can't wait for the wedding in November!  See ya then!

Kendall and Ryan were married July 11th at Little America in Flagstaff.  They were great to work with at their engagement shoot and equally great to work with at their wedding!!  The couple lives in Phoenix but met at NAU and therefore chose to have their wedding in the high country.

It was a beautiful day, and though it did look a little threatening in the way of rain early on, by ceremony time the skies were perfect and so were the temperatures!  I personally loved Ryan's choice of suits (and shoes and socks) for himself and his groomsmen ... gotta love men who wear socks to match the bridesmaids dresses - lime green by the way :-).  And of course Kendall looked simply amazing in her beautiful lace covered dress!

Thank you both so much for having us as your wedding photographers and for including us in your beautiful day!  Enjoy!  We also greatly enjoyed working with Shane Brandolini of DJ M4!

The bug didn't come with the dress ... it was just passing through :-).

We photographed Kendall and Ryan a few weeks ago in Flagstaff for their engagement shoot.  They brought along their adorable Yorkie-Poo, Keighley to pose in some of the photos (and I must say, she did a great job.)  Ryan's grandmother also came along and was nice enough to "babysit" Keighley in the down time :-).

The weather looked menacing but held out long enough for us to finish the shoot, at which time it poured.  Kendall and Ryan, we had a great time and are looking forward to your wedding in July ... wow, not to far away :-).  See you then!

Recently we met with Liane and Andy to photograph their engagement shoot.  They both have roots in Florida (which is where their wedding will be held next year) and met while in school at FSU for metorology.  Andy got a job out here and the two moved to Flagstaff in Late March.  They both love wine and originally wanted to have their shoot at a winery, but since there are none of those lurking about in Flagstaff they decided to improvise with a bottle of wine and some wine glasses (with their nick names - Pita and Leach - engraved on them) at Hart Prarie.  They also did some fun shots wearing their jerseys and some cool sunglasses they picked up in Vegas.  The light for this shoot was absolutely amazing.  It has been quite stormy here of late and this can make for some of the most spectacular and exquisite lighting conditions that Mother Nature has to offer ... it definitely did on this day!

Liane and Andy, it was a pleasure getting to know you both!  Enjoy!

We couldn't be happier that winter has finally returned to the high country!!  We were beginning to think it was all over with.  One request though ... for those who don't feel comfortable driving in snow, we beg of you - please stay at home.  Don't get us wrong ... we completely understand that some folks aren't used to driving in winter conditions, but when it takes almost six hours to drive from north Phoenix to Flagstaff with no apparent accidents along the way, that is waaaay toooo long!  That is just what happened last night after leaving from a meeting.  On the bright side though, we returned with two new wonderful clients!

This was the view from our front porch this morning :-)!

Don't get me wrong, but I am SO glad I don't have to drive back and forth to NAU anymore! I am one of those drivers you just mentioned who is not experienced enough with driving in the snow. It actually almost snowed down here in Tucson after reaching 80 last week!

I know Sarah and Partick have been waiting for this post - sorry for the delay guys :-).  Two weeks ago we photographed Sarah and Patrick's engagement shoot.  Though they used to live in Flagstaff, they are now living in Washington so this was our first time actually meeting face-to-face.  Just from talking with Sarah by email, I could tell she was someone I would instantly take to and sure enough I did.  Both Sarah and Patrick love dogs (they are both going into veterinary medicine) and of course, so do we ... plus, from her first email to me, Sarah said how adorable she thought Yoshi (our Old-English Sheepdog) was so obviously she ranked tops in my book real quick :-).

We began the shoot in downtown Flagstaff in a rather heavy snowstorm.  Does it look cold in the photos? ... heck yes it looks cold ... it was really freakin cold!  I have to give kudos to Sarah though.  She walked around downtown for over an hour with nearly bare feet (see photo illustration below) and never once complained.  Now that's dedication!  And let us not forget Patrick.  I must sing his praises as well.  In all our email correspondence, Sarah had warned me that Patrick harbors about as much enthusiasm for having his picture taken as he would for being hit by a Mac truck.  Look at these photos though ... he did an amazing job and was actually very relaxed ... great job Patrick!  You made us so proud!

For the second part of the shoot we made our way down the canyon into Sedona where snow changed over to a cold rain and still not one peep of discontent from either one of these two.  Sarah and Patrick, you were great to work with and it was fun getting to know you both!  Can't wait for the wedding at Snowbowl this summer ... we will keep our fingers crossed for a nice mix of weather conditions :-).

Wow, these turned out great! You can't even tell that we're freezing our butts off in the snow pictures...I think the bad weather made for better photos :) Patrick felt really comfortable with you guys and we look forward to working with you again in August. Can't wait to see the rest of the pics! Thanks!

Last week Tammy called me to see if I could do a last minute Christmas Family Portrait/ Infant shoot for her, her husband, Jonathon, and their one month old baby, Ryder.  Given she was a referal from a past client and the fact that I can never turn down the chance to capture a baby in it's first month of life ... of couse I said yes :-).  I photographed this shoot in two segments - the infant shoot of Monday and the family portrait shoot on Friday.  The weather was already headed downhill during the infant shoot on Monday (when we had orginally scheduled the session) so, wanting to do the family portraits outside, we decided to wait for Friday when we knew the storm would pass and hopefully leave a winter wonderland in it's wake.  It did just that!

As the storm wound down last Thursday, we decided to take a drive out to Sunset Crater and Wupatki National Monument just North of Flagstaff.  We have been to this ancient pueblo several times, but have never had the opportunity to photograph it in the snow.  Not only was it a beautiful way to experience it but for the most part, we had it all to ourselves :-).
