Jenn and John recently contacted us to ask if we did post-wedding photo sessions. We told them we did and the date was set. These sessions are generally referred to as trash the dress sessions, however we recently decided to give our sessions a fresh, new name. We now call them our Couture Sessions. We feel the name better represents to type of shoots we conduct. Yes, we have some brides that get into the water in their dress but that is only if they decide they want to. Our objective with these shoots is to go to amazing locations in amazing light and produce spectacular and inventive images!

We did not photograph Jenn and John's wedding and while they loved their wedding images they simply felt they didn't have enough time to get a lot of images together. Unfortunately this is not uncommon on a wedding day as time frames for couple portraits are often short and hectic. This is why these sessions are so much fun. They allow for plenty of time to move around to get the best shots possible! We took Jenn and John to the amazing Superstition Mountains in east Phoenix and even played around with some night shots. We had such an amazing time getting to know these newlyweds and creating these images!

The day after Cassondra and Matthew's amazing wedding at Cap Juluca Resort on the Caribbean Island of Anguilla, we headed out to explore the Island further during their Trash the Dress Session.  We wanted to incorporate some of the history of Anguilla in the shoot in addition to it's natural beauty.  This led us to a quite beach with two incredible shipwrecks!  We were told by locals that the two enormous ships were casualties of a fierce hurricane that hit the Island during the 1980's.  They certainly made for great backdrops!  What a fantastic weekend we had with a wonderful couple on a picturesque Island in the Caribbean!  Thank you both for this experience!  Enjoy!!

8-8-13 Sedona Trash The Dress Photographers ESTTD00.jpg

Elissa and Spenser were married in March.  They have been so busy since that they waited a while to do their trash the dress shoot.  We finally headed out in August to Sedona and it was so worth the wait!  We started the shoot at West Fork of Oak Creek and ended at Red Rock Crossing.  They were up for anything ... we like that :-), we had a great time and the photos are amazing!  We absolutely adore this couple and couldn't be happier for them!

Thanks to our Associate Photographer, Meg, for going along and contributing some awesome shots!

The day after Wendy and Jon's wedding at Merry-Go-Round Rock and Tlaquepaque, we headed back up to Sedona to photograph their Trash the Dress shoot. What a great time!! These two were up for anything, plus they look like models. We quickly determined that it is impossible to take a bad photo of Wendy ... what a beauty!

They brought along their very sweet dog, Riley, who made the shoot even more interesting. We started out in Oak Creek Canyon at West Fork Trail and finished up at Red Rock Crossing in lower Sedona. Thank you both again for having us as your wedding photographers. It was a true pleasure!

I'm so jealous I don't have such places here ! These pics are wonderful, the colors are great and I love the reflection with the water.

The day after their wedding I met back up with Kelli and Michael to photograph their trash the dress shoot.  Amazing the difference a day makes.  On their wedding day it was sunny and almost 90 degrees.  Not on this day!  A weather front moved through overnight and I woke up that morning to thunderstorms, pouring rain and cold temperatures.  Luckily the rain moved on, however it didn't get out of the 50's all day.

We still had a great time despite the weather, though it did put a kink in Kelli's idea to get in the water :-).  We started at Enoch Winery, where they had their reception, and did some portraits with their adorable corgi pooch.  We then headed over to their farm and mingled with the cows and one very affectionate donkey named Dolly.  Ahhh, Dolly, how I love thee :-).  Seriously, Dolly took a real shine to me and I quickly feel in love with her.  If I could have smuggled her home on the plane, I'm afraid Kelli and Michael would have come home from their honeymoon to a missing Donkey :-).  After that we headed to a sprawling, country property owned by the father of one of Kelli's bridesmaids and played in the woods for a while.  We had a fantastic time ... just too bad it was too cold to get into the water.  I think the results are just as good without the water shots though.  Great shoot you two!!

We had such a blast photographing Jessica and Dean's trash the dress shoot in Sedona back in May!  We started out at Red Rock Crossing and finished up at Merry-Go-Round Rock, before heading to a wonderful dinner at the Elote Cafe (thank you both for that) where we felt just slightly underdressed :-).  These two are beautiful people inside and out. We really enjoyed spending time with them and hope to see more of them in the future!  Thanks you two!

The weekend after Leah and Josh's wedding, we headed back to San Francisco , new gear in hand :-), to photograph their "day-after" shoot.  We moved our way throughout downtown San Francisco, then into the nearby Muir Woods, and finally back into the city again.  It was a lovely day overall, however it was windy and it was quite shocking to us Phoenicians how cold it can get in San Francisco in June, especially as the light of day faded :-).  Thank you both so much for a wonderful day, we had such a great time exploring!

Funny thing about how we first came to know this couple.  Maya and Spencer were on vacation from South Florida when they happened upon us conducting a trash the dress shoot with past clients, Kendra and Kyle, at Red Rock Crossing in Sedona.  They were, as most are who have never seen one of these sessions before, very curious to what we were doing photographing this couple in their wedding attire in red, muddy water.  We quickly explained that this was a session for couples to do after their wedding day to get images that are way outside the box ... most figuring they will never do anything with their dress again anyhow, so they may as well have some fun with it!

We saw a slight spark in Maya's eye at that moment as she exclaimed, "How true ... my wedding dress has been hanging in our closet, doing nothing, for almost ten years now!"  With that, she asked who we were and her and Spencer headed on their way.  We figured we would never see them again.

About a week later we received an email from Maya.  With much enthusiasm she explained that she had been to our website and loved our trash the dress photos.  She asked if we would be willing to fly to Miami the following year to photograph a trash the dress shoot for her and Spencer for their ten year anniversary.  With that we booked the date and headed off to South Florida this past July!

We had an amazing time getting to know Maya and Spencer, and their two beautiful daughters, Adelyn and Emma, as we spent the entire day cruising to various spots from Hollywood Beach near Ft. Lauderdale; to the amazing art of the Wynwood Walls in Miami; to Bill Baggs State Park in Key Biscayne.  Maya wore her original wedding dress, though she did some alterations to make it a bit more modern and both she and Spencer were full of energy and excitement all day long.  What a great idea for a ten year anniversary!  Happy 10 years and here's to a lifetime more!  Thank you both so much for having us.  We very much enjoyed getting to know you and your family and we just love you guys to death :-)!!

The day after Bethany and Michael's wedding at Kauai Coast Resort in Kauai, Hawaii, we headed out to photograph their trash the dress session.  We literally drove from one end of the island to another in search of the most scenic places to shoot and I think the photos are proof that we found them!  Kauai is nothing but one endless, stunning vista after another and we definitely made use of them.  This couple was fearless and we had the best time doing this session!  Again, thank you both for the experience and for spending the day with us and trusting in our location-scouting choices :-)!

This has to be one of our favorite trash the dress sessions ever!  Brandi and Jeffrey are just fantastic to work with and it doesn't hurt that they really know how to work a camera.  No big shock there ... Jeffrey is an actor (he has appeared in such notable productions as Law and Order: Criminal Intent, among others!)  And Brandi is just a natural.  Pair that with great looks and chemistry and you have a recipe for amazing photographs!  Thank you both for trusting in our vision :-)!  It should also be noted that we have done quite a few sessions in Jerome at Gold King Mine and Ghost Town and their resident donkey, Pedro, though normally a friendly old chap, is terrified of brides in wedding dresses.  Brandi, however has obviously missed her calling as a donkey whisperer, for Pedro slowly came around to her and even let her pet him ... so sweet :-)!

Hailee and Troy are good friends with past clients, Megan and Jeff (who we just love by the way,) and contacted us to do their Trash the Dress shoot.  Hailee is a cheerleader for the Phoenix Suns and they both look like they belong in the pages of a fashion magazine!

We conducted the shoot quite a few months back when it was still pleasant and cool in Phoenix.  We went to a new area of the Superstition Mountain Range that we had not been to yet and we LOVED it!!  Have to go there more often for sure!

Katie and Logan chose to begin their trash the dress session in Sedona and end it in Jerome ... two of our favorite spots to conduct these types of shoots :-).  We had a fantastic time and got some great shots!  Thank you Katie and Logan!

The day after their elopement, Keary and Jesse headed back out into the great unknown to do their Trash the Dress shoot.  We first went to Antelope Canyon, which is spectacular beyond words.  It's landscape of deep red carved walls are the definition of art in nature.  We were so glad they were up for this suggestion.  Not only have we always wanted to do a trash the dress shoot in Antelope Canyon, but it provided Keary and Jesse with truly unique wedding photographs that very few people can say they have.  From there we headed out to Horseshoe Bend and finished in the water at Lake Powell.  Simply a magical day :-)!

The day after Leslie and Ben's wedding we headed out for their Trash the Dress Shoot.  We started at L'Auberge de Sedona and then headed to Red Rock Crossing and finally Merry-Go-Round Rock for sunset.  This had to be, without doubt, the windiest conditions we have ever encountered at Merry-Go-Round Rock.  It often gets windy at this location, but this was insane.  I hand it to Leslie for standing in those conditions.  It made for beautiful photos, but it also made for a very cold and rather scary setting (you don't want to mess around up there - the drops are shear and long.)  Thank you both for having us and thank you to a past couple of ours, Kimberly and Derek, who referred us to their good friends (it was great seeing you both at the wedding as well) :-)!

We didn't have much time to do couple formals at Simone and Wade's wedding so they opted for a trash the dress shoot a couple of days after the wedding.  In addition, they thought it would be fun to do a trash the dress shoot and incorporate the Harley Davidson motorcycle Wade had rented into it ... and it was!  We held the session at Red Rock Crossing in Sedona.  We had a blast with these two and really enjoyed getting to know them.  Thank you both so much for having us as your wedding photographers!

The day after the wedding we headed out to a beautiful beach we had scouted when we first arrived in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to photograph Senait and Ilya's trash the dress shoot.  The shoot was amazing (aside from the fact the I got horribly burnt, but we won't go there because I was stupid and didn't put on sunscreen :-)) and came complete with an awesome 1800's pirate ship pulling into the bay behind us ... what a perfect prop!!  After the shoot we finished at the Me Cabo Resort with a photo shoot of everyone in their Eritrean wedding attire.  Again, thank you both so much ... this was such an amazing experience for us!

The day after Theresa and Chris' wedding, we headed into Napa Valley for their trash the dress shoot to take advantage of the beautiful vineyards and stately oak trees.  We got some beautiful images and had a great time producing them ... gotta love it when the bride and groom aren't afraid to climb trees :-)!  Thank you both again for having us as your wedding photographers and for the wonderful experience!

Brooke and Ryan had their wedding in late April at Arcosanti in Arizona.  In early June, once they had fully recovered from sunburns they got on their honeymoon to Cancun (I know how you feel :-)), we photographed their trash the dress shoot.  They decided to hold their session at Lake Pleasant - a place they love - along with their boat - another thing they love :-).  We had a great day playing and capturing some unique images on a hot Arizona summer day at the lake!  Thanks for the fun you two!!

6-13-11 Destination Wedding Photographers NTTTD00.jpg

After all the hectic activities over the past two days, which left little time to do many posed photographs, we all headed out to relax, take a swim and do a trash the dress shoot!  We headed south of Playa del Carmen to the Yucatan's famed cenotes to take a refreshing dip (truth be told, the water was a tad chilly) and take some underwater shots in it's crystal clear waters.  I had been really excited about visiting the cenotes and they did not disappoint ... they were absolutely stunning!  From there we headed to the beach to finish up the session.  It was a lovely way to spend more time getting to know Neha and Tunde and to wrap up a spectacular destination wedding in Cancun, Mexico!  Thank you both so much for the experience ... it was true privilege!!!

Angie:

Being that I wanted to comment on EVERY SINGLE PICTURE, I figured it made the most sense to wait until the very end of the postings. :) Ummm... WOW! Tina, We are amazing! lol. I had the most INCREDIBLE time...incredible being a complete and total understatement!!! Not only was this a beautiful wedding in every way a wedding can be beautiful--Beautiful people, Beautiful decorations, Beautiful customs--It was THE MOST humbling experience of LOVE I have ever encountered. With so much negativity and hate in the world, your families were brought together as one by nothing more than, as your mother gorgeously stated, "Just love." No hindrances of race or religion were in sight, and that is so beautiful. Thus, making it so much more than just a wedding for me, but a life experience I could have never received any where else, at any other time in my life. I was where I was supposed to be (by default, thanks to Kevin -sorry Kevin, but you are appreciated :)).
I want to thank Neha, Tunde, and ALL of their beautiful family members, for giving Tina and I the opportunity to photograph this truly one-of-a-kind wedding! Neha & Tunde, You are an inspiration of love and I feel so blessed to have met you. To Kevin, thank you for having prior arrangements that allowed me to take your place in Cancun (hahaha-you were missed). And to Tina (and Kevin), thank you for trusting my "eye" and for giving me the guidance, strength and support to continue to grow. I am still utterly grateful to be a part of the Sierra Blanco team/family and LOVE YOU BOTH to pieces! Here's to Neha, Tunde, their wedding, their pictures :), and to the future. SALUD!!

Tina and Kevin - these images are breathtaking. I have never seen anything like this and am in awe! I am so honored to have had you photograph our wedding and hope to have a trash the dress session one day too! -Jessica (White) Taylor

JL Morrissey:

Your collaboration on this wedding brought me so much joy today! It's more than a wedding album; it’s a testament to humanity’s cultural prosperity. Pure magic, pure love. Cheers!

Kendra and Kyle did their Trash the Dress Session in Sedona and it was by far, the dirtiest, muddiest Trash the Dress Session we have had to date, and we loved it!!  We started out at Garland's Oak Creek Lodge (which we could have spent the whole day at) and then continued to the West Fork of Oak Creek before ending at Red Rock Crossing - where things got dirty :-).  The first photo is a photo taken with our new underwater camera housing.  We are very excited about the possibilities we can produce with this new piece of equipment!  We want to extend a special thank you to Kendra and Kyle for trusting us in whatever was asked of them ... what an amazing shoot!!  Kendra did take the dress to the cleaner (she said we should have seen the looks on their faces.)  We will let you know the outcome :-)!

A side note here:  It is sometimes funny how our clients find us and this day had to be one of the strangest.  While shooting at Red Rock Crossing (while we had Kendra in the water) a couple visiting the park from Hollywood (near Miami), Florida, named Maya and Spencer, happened by and were really curious as to what we were doing.  We explained the concept of a Trash the Dress Session to them and they were amazed.  So much so, they said there 10 year anniversary was coming up next summer, 2012, and Maya was so inspired she decided she would "trash" her dress in celebration.  They were curious to see what the results would look like so they took our information to see photos.  We wished them good luck and told them they would love the experience, certainly never expecting to hear from them again.  A few days later, to our happy surprise, Maya contacted us and asked if we would fly to Miami to do the shoot.  The rest is history and we will be boarding a plane next July for sunny Florida to photograph Maya and Spencer's 10 Year Anniversary Trash the Dress Session.  Can't wait!!!

On to Kendra and Kyle's shoot ... enjoy the sneak peak guys!

Fast forward three months - and into a new year - and we are back with Gina and Matt for their trash the dress shoot.  They had been planning on doing this shoot all along and Gina was REALLY looking forward to it ... she was ready to jump into the freezing cold water at her wedding in November (true story ... she makes me laugh :-).)

They really wanted to do their trash the dress shoot in snow (I love snow shoots ... my absolute favorites,) but that is always tricky, especially when you only have one day each week you can schedule the shoot.  We had originally planned the shoot in January, but there was no sign of a fresh snow storm, so we suggested waiting a bit.  We tentatively re-scheduled the shoot for this past Sunday and could hardly believe our good fortune when we heard a big snow storm was rolling into the high country.  This was the same storm that brought stunning rainbows to our wedding the previous day - man, what a spectacular weekend to shoot :-)!!  Snow levels dropped significantly and we took advantage of grabbing some rare snow shots in lower Sedona before heading up into the canyon to the West Fork of Oak Creek where it looked like a perfect winter wonderland.

Thank you both so much for enduring the cold and helping to create these magical shots!!

Kelly and Steve contacted us last spring to do a Trash the Dress Shoot for them.  They had recently been married out of state (we didn't photograph their wedding) and while they loved their wedding photos, they felt they were lacking in the "creative couple formals" area.  They also wanted to incorporate their adorable bulldog puppy into the shoot ... he was so freakin cute :-)!!!  We headed out to the Superstition Mountain Range east of Phoenix and it turned into a super fun, amazing session!

This looks worse than it is ... we all thought he was peeing on the dress, especially Kelly, as you can gather by her expression, but he changed his mind.  Kelly said she wanted to trash the dress, but not quite that much :-).

Caitlin and Dave really wanted a trash the dress shoot along with their package and we are so glad they did!!  We headed out to the Superstition Mountains east of Phoenix and had an amazing session which, as usual with our trash the dress shoots, ended in water!  Thanks you two for trusting us to create these wonderful shots and for following us down every dirt road back there to locate the ever elusive "water trees" :-).

Nelda King:

LOVE the shot with her & the church. So amazing!

1-3-11 Trash The Dress Photography ATTD01.jpg

I want to start this post by saying that in no way, shape, or form did we harm this beautiful owl!!!  Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love all animals, especially birds!

On New Years Eve, after Arizona's big winter storm, we hiked into the mountains northeast of Phoenix in search of a nice landscape photo of Four Peaks Mountain with rare snowfall on it.  While waiting for the light and searching out the perfect composition, I turned to see a fence ... and a strange shape hanging from it.  On closer inspection we found that it was a Great Horned Owl.  At first I thought it might have inadvertently flown into the fence, killing it but we soon came to realize that the bird had been affixed to the fence.  The scene was odd and disturbing as I wondered how the bird died and why someone would then strap it to a fence in the middle of nowhere.  The owl showed no obvious signs of trauma, so I guess I will never know.  I took the photo above for my decades-old, on going personal project, "Casualties of War."  It documents man's impact on the wild world and the damage we inflict, whether by purpose or not.

Fast forward a couple of days and I got it in my head that it would make for a really cool shoot!  I had an image of a high fashion look with really dark eye makeup and a somber, yet avant-garde look to the final photographs.  I got a hold of our associate photographer, Angie, and asked her if she would pose for the photos.  She agreed, and on absolutely no notice, she came over, I did her makeup, we drove out to the site, hiked in, put my wedding dress on her and did the shoot.  We arrived just in time for sunset, took the photographs, and hiked out through the cactus fields, in the cold, dark of night :-).  At the end of the shoot, Angie asked if I would take a few photos of her beautiful tatoo using the scene.  It was blue hour by this point and it worked perfectly for that set of images!

For me, the spring and fall wedding seasons of 2010 pretty much blurred together and I never really felt caught up.  I became terribly exhausted and sick and I am just now getting to where I mentally and physically feel a bit better.  Sometimes as photographers, and artists, we need to take a step back to regroup so we can come back in fresh.  I really needed a shoot like this ... something out of the box and edgy.  Angie, thank you so much for trusting in my vision - both the shoot and the makeup :-) - and for so willing trekking into the wilderness on a cold day to see this shoot through!  You look amazing in these photos!!!!

She's gorgeous! I'm feeling replaced! ;) lol Beautiful images! I love the contrast of the feathers barbed wire and the flow of the dress... :) It was fun having you visit! Hope to see you soon!

Nelda King:

I love the pictures! OMGee! So very beautiful & the sky is amazing. The model is beautiful too, her outfit, her makeup, her tattoo && her jewelry. I feel awful for the owl. In our tradition owls are bad luck to us, but I would never wish bad on animals nor any kind of life. Again, SIERRA BLANCO you are so AWESOME!!

(01.06.11 @ 07:56 PM)
Amanda M:

so sad about the owl, but the shots are gorgeous, as always!! :) and you're defintely getting alot of use out of your dress! :)

Megan and Jeff's Trash the Dress shoot rocked!!  Unreal ... this couple looks like the stepped out of the pages of a fashion magazine!  For the first part of the shoot, we headed up to historic Jerome ... LOVE Jerome!!  From there we looped back around and ended up at Watson Lake in Prescott.  Ever since we first saw this lake a couple of years ago, we have always wanted to do a trash the dress shoot at it.  The landscape is otherwordly!  You will be seeing Megan again in the near future.  We have a personal project we are working on and she has agreed to model for us ... she is just so beautiful :-)!!  Thanks guys ... you are both so amazing!  XOXOXO!

We photographed Kelly and Alec for their trash the dress shoot at Red Rock Crossing in Sedona.  The barren winter trees worked perfectly for this shoot and the couple was stunning as ever.  I LOVE Kelly's dress by the way ... stunning!!  Kelly didn't have time at her wedding to change into her traditional Navajo Squaw Wedding Dress, so she used this shoot as an opportunity to get some shots in it.  Her mother, Rose, made all the beautiful turquoise jewelry!  Thank you Kelly and Alec for trusting us to set up everything for your wedding photography ... we know how important it was to you :-)!!  XOXOXO!!

Marie and Mike live in Canada and were hoping to have their wedding in Sedona this past year.  Unfortunately, that didn't work out so they had a small wedding in Canada instead and later decided to take a trip here to have their photos done at Red Rock Crossing.  It started out as a portrait shoot since they included their adorable (and I mean ADORABLE) daughter, Ava, and quickly morphed into a trash the dress shoot for the whole family.  As Marie saw it, she was going to leave the dress behind since she would have no need for it in the future ... hence, I gained a dress for future model shoots - THANKS MARIE :-)!

The photos are amazing. Thank you so very much for them :)

(03.02.10 @ 04:24 PM)

The day after the wedding, we met up with Lisa and James for their trash-the-dress shoot.  This shoot was totally off the hook.  We had such a blast!!

We started at Lisa's parent's farm, which is full of everything imaginable to use as a prop or backdrop for this kind of shoot.  We had a lot of fun rummaging through the garage, and with a little help from Lisa's father, we got some crazy shots :-)!  The farm equipment was fun too as was the participation of many adorable dogs, including Quizas.  Lisa's brother, a photography buff himself,  took us to the far reaches of the farm where they grow all sorts of palm trees and we got some beautiful shots in the deep green forests ... not to mention a few mosquito bites :-).  The family definitely participated in this event and had fun doing it!  We hope they love the photos!!

We finished up the shoot at the beach and WOW, no holding back.  When we told them to jump in the water, they jumped.  When the waves battered them, they just got back in them again for another take.  They were amazing!!  I have to say though, I got just as soaked as they did almost ... drenched up to my neck.  The water was warm though, kind of like bath water :-).  Lisa opted not to keep the crinoline and tossed it in the trash as we left the beach ... made for a cute departing shot!!  Thanks so much you two, this was soooooo much fun!!

I was very excited to hear that I placed in the prestigious WPJA (Wedding Photojournalist Association) Quarter 2 Contest!  As always, the competition is very stiff and I am always pleased with any placing among such a talented group of photographers.  The award was for sixteenth place in the Trash the Dress Portrait category.  I love doing TTD sessions because they are so much fun and I really get a chance to tap into my creative side.  Special thanks to the always beautiful Aubrey for putting up with swamps and alligators and mosquitos for this wonderful shoot ... your AWESOME!!  Funny thing is, she hates her feet :-).  Love ya!!

The day after the wedding, Michele and Josh opted for a trash-the-dress shoot.  They were worried that it wouldn't be exciting to us beacuse we are able to do so many of these shoots in beautiful places like Sedona.  On the contrary though.  We love places that are fresh and new for us.  China, Michigan was full of rustic old barns, lovely fields of wildflowers and miles and miles of corn fields ... we have always wanted to do a photo shoot in the corn fields.  This was like being a kid in a candy store to us ... we ate it up!!

There was only one drawback.  People, I have lived in Florida for heaven sakes.  I have trudged through some seriously mosquito infested swamps.  I have even been to Africa and slept along river banks swarming with the blood-sucking creatures, but Michigan ... Michigan in the summer is as bad as any swarm I have ever had the misfortune to be in.  I hate mosquitos ... they love me ...

Michele Goodrich:

You were able to capture every single emotion I felt that day. I can look at a picture and remember exactly what I was thinking and feeling at that moment in time. You have a true gift.

(10.23.09 @ 04:43 AM)

Now that I am finally caught up on my wedding postings, I have a chance to post some personal stuff, and it has been accumulating so get ready :-).

Back in April my friend, Phuong, came to visit me.  We have been friends for a very long time and I hadn't seen her in 10 years, so it was a wonderful visit.  She stayed for almost 5 weeks and in that time we just had to make her play dress-up and do a couple of trash-the-dress shoots at some fabulous Arizona locals!

We had an absolute blast doing these shoots and quite a bit of planning went into them.  We wanted them to be very haute couture with heavy makeup, sexy stockings, costume jewelry, a really hip black wig with blue highlights mixed in, oh ... and some peacock feathers thrown in as a headdress for good measure :-).  Our backdrops would be the Grand Canyon and the Superstition Mountain Range.  The Grand Canyon shoot was amazing and Phuong was so excited to shoot there, but that excitement was tempered as the sun began to drop ... it was freezing cold.  You would never know it by the photos though.  She looked stunning in every image!!

Stay tuned for our month-long adventure as "Tina and Phuong take on Arizona" - coming soon!

The Grand Canyon Shoot ... always love the wind at the Canyon!!

How fun!!! That dress was well spent money, Tina!! My better half was totally spellbound by the Superstitions, still talking about those mountains weekly! I was more into Grand Canyon, that is Yaki point, isnt it?!? I can see the trails we walked, both South Kaibab and Tonto... Great shots!

(07.09.09 @ 04:12 PM)

A couple of weeks ago we met with Jodee and Todd for a Trash the Dress shoot.  Jodee and Todd were married out of state in Louisville, Kentucky last October and Jodee contacted us because she wanted one last shoot in her dress before she either sells or donates it.  She also just wanted to make some fun photographs with Todd where they didn't have to worry about timelines or getting the dress dirty :-)!

We met up at the Mesa Arts Center (a really cool location for shooting) and finished up in the Superstition Range.  We have to give props to both Jodee and Todd because it was sooooo disturbingly HOT ..... 105 degrees hot!!  Needless to say we had to take many breaks for water and shade so no one would end up in the hospital with a heat related illness :-).  They really did an amazing job and never once complained.  We even let them have fun at the end of the shoot at the Arts Center, allowing them to take a dip in one of the many fountains.  Made for fun photos too :-)!

Jodee and Todd, it was such a pleasure meeting and working with you both!  You were so nice, fun to be around and wonderful at posing for the cameras :-).  By the way, I just have to throw this out there because I was thinking it the whole day and never mentioned it ... I really think Jodee looks like a young version of Jodie Foster - who agrees??  Thanks guys and enjoy!

We have hit the busy season and I am falling very far behind on my blogging, so for those couples waiting, I promise I will get your shoots up as soon as possible :-).

While we were in Florida, Brittany and Stephen had one last shoot - a spectacular Trash-the Dress shoot.  Again, we can't stress enough how much fun these shoots can be ... they are becoming increasingly popular and are highly recommended!!!

Bee and Stephen started the shoot in Downtown Orlando in the Church Street Station district ... I personally love the ice cream shots :-).  From there we headed out to Blue Springs State Park where they got down and dirty - and just a little water-logged.

Thank you both so much!!  It was such a blast and we just love you guys!  Hope you love them as much as we do :-)!!

Tina, the pictures look fantastic! ~Lisa

The day after Alicia and Michael's wedding, I photographed the beautiful Aubrey for her Trash the Dress Session.  Aubrey is one of my dearest friends ... not to mention my favorite model :-).  As a matter of fact, that is how we met a decade ago.  She was in the hallway of my college (she went through the photography program as well) and I stopped and asked her if I could photograph her.  She said yes and the rest is history.  I have had the pleasure to photograph Aubrey many, many times over the years and last year I had the ultimate privilege of documenting her wedding.  Well, we have talked about a Trash the Dress Session ever since and decided this was a great opportunity to do it.

Aubrey does not particularly consider herself an outdoorsy type of gal like myself, but as usual she followed me deep into the recesses of the Florida wilderness to create these amazing images.  We traveled to Wekiwa Springs State Park in Orlando.  This is one of hundreds of fresh water springs that dot Florida ... the waters are crystal clear with beautiful shades of blue and emerald.  As idealistic as that may sound, it is still the Florida wilderness.  Aubrey braved alligators, no-see-ums (nasty little bugs that leave nasty little bites), very large wolf spiders that love to hide in the tulle of a wedding dress, and those sounds that emanate around you, unseen, praying on the imagination, and still she continued on for the sake of her photos ... amazing!!  I am so proud of you Aubs :-).

No doubt though, the photos are well worth it!  She even did the "wet hair flip" for me ... over and over and over again - just like she did in one of our very first shoots together.  Aubrey I adore these images ... thank you soooooo much for trusting me to not let you be attacked by spiders :-).  You hold a very special place in my heart and I will never tire of using you as one of my models.  Hope you and Phillip love them!!  Love you!!

Side note:  For anyone interested in these types of shoots, we highly suggest them.  They are great fun and you don't necessarily have to "Trash" your dress.  After everything Aubrey did (including riding in a canoe to get to some of the locations), she only ended up with a small grass stain at the bottom of her dress ... something easily fixed by a good dry clean.  Plus you get to feel like a model for a day ... what fun!!

Amazing, creative pictures!

The day after the wedding, events were scheduled throughout the morning for the guests to enjoy including a Pow Wow featuring Jakey Skye and his family.  They were incredible and apparently world-famous, having been featured in the Opening Ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympics.  They hand-make each and every one of their elaborate and beautiful costumes.

After the Pow Wow, we met with Armanda and Jon for their Day-After shoot.  With all the events of the wedding day, there was hardly time to do any formals, so we saved the fun stuff for Sunday.  We had a great time and love the results.  This photography shoot wraps up the big Monument Valley wedding event and again, we feel so privileged to have been a part of it!

Armanda's sisters dressed back up and participated in the first part of the photo shoot.
